Music at St Andrew’s
There are many ways of taking part in the musical life of the school.
The whole school and some parents came together to perform at the Bath Abbey to celebrate the work of Benjamin Britten. The children helped to compose an original song with Will Gregory from Goldfrapp. Click the link below to see the performance.
During school hours, years 2 & 3 take part in weekly Music Minis sessions, which are run by B&NES music services. The children get to experiment with different instruments and sounds to help with their creative learning.
We also have several recorder groups and individual tuition for a range of instruments, including guitar, clarinet, violin, cello, trumpet and piano. These are run during school time and cost less than you would pay for private sessions out of school. There is also the option to hire an instrument, so you don’t need to own one to have lessons.
Mr Bower’s from Bath Abbey comes into school to conduct a choir with our year 5 children. This year they have performed with the Bath Bach Choir at their Carols by Candlelight service. He also travelled to Braunschweig, Germany for 4 unforgettable days in June (2013) with out school choir. They gave several performances (including at the Cathedral) and made links with a local school, visited a forest school, a local newspaper and a science museum. The children absolutely loved it! To find out how they got on and how this amazing story unfolded, click on the links below and see images of the trip in the gallery section.
The St Andrews School YouTube channel has also been set up, where you can see and hear the choir in action
