News from The Friends of St Andrew’s

An enterprising Spring!

In March, the Friends collaborated with school to organise an Enterprise Week so the children could learn about careers, business, and entrepreneurship. At the start of Enterprise Week, each class was given £1 per child. The children worked together during the week on ideas to ‘grow a £1’ – earning back more than their initial investment in order to raise funds for school. This culminated in the Enterprise Fayre at the end of the week, which was a huge success. The children were thrilled to sell their items to such enthusiastic customers!
Overall, the ‘grow a £1’ project raised an amazing total of £625.04. This will pay for fun-filled Silent Discos for EVERY class, even Nursery, in the summer term. The top three classes were: Year 5 (raising £125.90 after costs), Year 6 (£108.92), and Year 2 (£95.30). Well done to all classes for raising so much! Thank you to the teachers and staff who encouraged the research and planning. A huge thank you as well to parents who visited to talk to classes about their jobs. We also enjoyed hosting our first Enterprise Networking Social evening for parents/carers. We hope to repeat Enterprise Week next year after such a brilliant launch!
