School Choir Trip to Braunschweig

Mr Bower’s choir trip to Braunschweig (4th to the 7th of June) was a fantastic experience!!

The choir gave several performances – some planned, some “flash mob” style – the best of which was an evening concert in Braunschweig Cathedral. The choir sang a collection of their songs and was joined by the cathedral children’s choir for 2 additional songs.  The choirs were given a standing ovation for their performance. The first in living memory!

The children visited a primary school in Braunschweig, a castle, a forest school and a science museum. They were welcomed by the mayor of Braunschweig and the local press took photos. The choir was on the front page of the Braunschweig newspaper on Thursday!

The choir’s tour to Germany originated from an anonymous donation left in the Braunschweiger Dom. See the Bath Chronicle article for more details.

The wider story, concerning the “Robin Hood of Braunschwieg” has been covered by the BBC: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17256891
