Year 1: Phonics, Maths & Yoga

Year 1 have been working hard on their phonics this term and using the sounds we have been learning to rehearse and write sentences. They have been practising using full stops and capital letters to make sentences.

In maths we have explored the ‘greater than, less than and equals’ symbols and used these to compare numbers. We have also been using the part-whole model to explore ow numbers can make parts of a whole. Some of the children extended their own learning by independently creating part-whole models.

Year 1 have also enjoyed some calming yoga. They love balancing and using this time to feel calm and ready for learning.

This term we have welcomed a visitor to Year 1. A penguin arrived in our classroom! We are going to be exploring the story of Lost and Found and will be updating you with our learning process through the Friday Home Learning letter.
