Year 1: Seasons and the Weather

Year 1 have had a great term!

The children have been exploring poetry linked to our Fairy Tales theme in Literacy. They have enjoyed learning and performing the poem Hey Let’s Go from James Carter’s Zim Zam Zoom poetry book, using expressive voices and actions to bring the words to life. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they perform in class.

Linked to our weather theme, the children also had a go at being weather presenters. They used their knowledge of different weather characteristics to report on a variety of weather types, speaking clearly and confidently just like real presenters.

The children have been creating beautiful paintings inspired by the seasons. They painted a tree showing how it changes throughout the year, making links to their Science learning about seasonal changes. The finished artwork is beautiful – well done Year 1!
