Year 2: Djembe & Diwali

There have been so many wonderful moments of creativity and performance to celebrate over the last couple of weeks. The roles have been cast and the Nativity rehearsals are in full swing. The class have had their first two Djembe lessons with the brilliant Mr Hockey. They have learnt how to achieve the different sounds on the drum and have learned about notation and rhythm. It was incredible to watch the class play in unison – the sound was incredible.

The class also enjoyed the opportunity to learn about Diwali, the Festival of Light and they had great fun creating their own candleholders with clay. The finished holders were painted and went home complete with a tealight to share with their families at home.
