Year 2: Forest School & Egg Box Dragons

These past few weeks have been incredibly busy in Year 2, and we’ve had so many exciting experiences! One of the highlights was our amazing trip to Kingwood School’s Forest School area. The children had a fantastic time exploring the forest. They loved getting muddy in the kitchen, where they made all sorts of concoctions, from lemon and ginger tea to carrot cake – delicious!
The children also enjoyed building dens, pulling carts, and digging very big holes. It was such a wonderful, child-led experience that provided so many learning opportunities. We saw great cooperation, independence, problem-solving, creativity, and imaginative play – what a brilliant day!
In English, our Egg Box Dragon story has inspired us to write letters, diaries and invitations. We’ve also been working hard to improve our handwriting. In Maths, our exploration sessions have focused on doubles and multiples of five, and we’ve had fun investigating and thinking like mathematicians
.
In PE, we’ve been exploring low and high apparatus, practising balances, and learning how to jump safely. It’s been a fun-filled and action-packed few weeks, and we’re so proud of all the progress the children have made!
