Year 3: Ancient Egyptians
This term, Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Ancient Egyptians in History. We began by researching the River Nile and discovering why it was so important to Ancient Egyptian life. The children learned how the river provided water, fertile land for farming, transport routes and many of the resources needed for communities to thrive.
As part of our topic, the children explored how Ancient Egyptians made papyrus paper. The children created their own papyrus-style paper before using it as the basis for a beautiful oil pastel artwork of Hapi, the Ancient Egyptian god of the River Nile.
Year 3 demonstrated fantastic enthusiasm and sportsmanship during Sports Day earlier this term. Every child took part with great determination and encouraged their classmates throughout the event. Two particular favourites were the egg-and-spoon race and the 100m sprint, which created lots of excitement and friendly competition! We were very proud of the children’s positive attitudes and the support they showed for one another during the event.
