Year 3: Through the Window

The children are so excited to share their ongoing creations in Art for our ‘Through the Window’ series, inspired by our focus artist, Jennifer Wheatley. They have applied vibrant colour palettes, worked with a range of media including acrylics, pen, pencil, watercolour and chosen fabric scraps to create bold, expressive, and imaginative pieces. We hope you enjoy this mini gallery of paintings including some close-up details of the wonderful  variety of wall and curtain designs—we’re sure you’ll agree that we have a fine team of Interior Design Masters in the making!

Year 3 have also been working hard as mathematicians, completing their summer assessments and enjoying using our shiny new iPads. One enquiry this week made us all smile: “Are we doing any more maths ? Because I love them!”

In French, after mastering the art of ordering ice creams, the children have been developing and honing their listening skills to learn and use the French names for seven fruits. Quote of the day: “J’aime les fruits!”

In English, everyone has worked incredibly hard planning and writing powerful poems describing the ‘delicious’ scrapyard in The Iron Man, our class book. The classroom has been buzzing with ambitious vocabulary and expanded noun phrases, with carefully chosen adjectives to capture the sights and sounds of the Iron Man’s “heaven”: Clank! Chomp! Grind! Clatter! Screech!
