Year 4: Swimming & Lindisfarne
Intensive Swimming Lessons
Year 4 have enjoyed their intensive swimming programme, attending lessons every day for two weeks. Throughout this time, the children have shown impressive determination and resilience, with many making significant progress in their confidence, stamina and technique in the water. It has been wonderful to see such rapid development, from refining strokes to mastering new skills.
In addition to their achievements in the pool, the children have represented the school superbly. They have walked to and from the pool sensibly and safely each day, demonstrating responsibility and maturity. Their excellent behaviour, positive attitudes and willingness to support one another have been frequently commented on by staff and passers-by! We are incredibly proud of the way Year 4 have approached this experience and celebrated being such positive ambassadors for the school.
History: What happened at Lindisfarne?
Year 4 have been deeply engaged in their history learning this term as they explored the dramatic events of the Viking raid on Lindisfarne. The children developed a strong understanding of the sequence of events, considering what happened before, during and after the attack, and brought these moments to life through thoughtful freeze frames. This drama work helped them to empathise with different perspectives, which they then drew upon in their writing. We were incredibly impressed with the vivid diary entries produced, as pupils wrote in role as either a Viking or a monk, carefully capturing emotions, details and viewpoints from this pivotal moment in history.
