Year 5: Teamwork & Creativity
Year 5 have had an amazing term – we couldn’t be prouder of their progress! During our Forest School sessions, the children have shown great teamwork and curiosity as they explored the outdoors. They’ve practised tying different types of knots, searched for fascinating minibeasts beneath logs and leaves, and worked together to complete outdoor challenges.
In English, our writing has been inspired by Varjak Paw. The class has been busy crafting detailed descriptions of characters and settings. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity and confidence grow.
Our Maths lessons have focused on addition and subtraction using both mental and written methods. Pupils have been learning how to apply these methods to solve multi-step problems, using reasoning and perseverance.
Our PE lessons have revolved around developing key multi-skills. Through a variety of fun and fast-paced games, everyone has been improving their coordination, balance, agility, and teamwork.
The children have loved learning to sing “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi, exploring pitch, rhythm, and expression. Their confidence and enthusiasm have made each practice session a joy to watch.
In Science, we’ve delved into the fascinating topic of the human life cycle. From infancy to late adulthood, we’ve explored how our bodies and lives change over time.
Religious Education lessons have taken us into the world of Sikhism, where we’ve been learning about the 5 Ks — exploring what each symbol represents and how they help Sikhs express their faith and values in daily life.
Finally, in Geography, we’ve been exploring the fascinating human and physical features of America. The children have been learning to identify key landmarks such as the Rocky Mountains and New Orleans. We’ve discussed how geography influence jobs and the economy.
