Year 6: Creativity & Artwork
This week, Year 6 have continued their bright start to our new term with a big spark of creativity. We have been reading the first chapters of The Boy at the Back of the Class, by Onjali Q Rauf – a story about a boy who arrives as a refugee in the UK, from Syria.
We wondered about the feelings he would be experiencing as he stood in front of his new class, being introduced by his new teacher, in a land he has no experience of. We have written our own free verse poetry to try and express these ideas.
We have also finished our gallery of mixed media artwork, which combines print techniques with collage and abstract paint. This was based on our previous study of jazz music, showing how different artforms can link.
