Year 6: Evolution & Darwin
Year 6 have been learning about inheritance, adaptation and evolution in living things. Why does a fennec fox have such BIG ears? Because they can hear better? Well… it’s actually all to do with living in such a hot climate! We also learned about Charles Darwin’s theories, and looked at pictures of his work around the finches on the Galapagos.
To explore further, we turned into the migrating birds for the afternoon and experimented with competing for various ‘foods’ with differently evolved ‘beaks’. Who would win Survival of the Fittest? How would natural selection take its course…?
