At St Andrew’s Church School we recognise that new technologies have become integral to the lives of children and young people in today’s society, both within school and in their lives outside of school. The internet and other digital/information technologies are powerful tools, which can be used to promote creativity, stimulate discussion and open up new opportunities for learning. Our Online Safety culture at St Andrew’s Church School is intended to help ensure safe and appropriate use of the internet and related communications technologies.

While the use of these exciting learning tools, in school and at home, has been shown to improve educational standards and promote pupil achievement, it is acknowledged that these technologies can put young people at risk. While it is impossible to eliminate these risks completely, it is the school’s highest priority to provide both pupils and their parents/carers with the confidence and skills necessary to face and deal with these risks.

The school has undertaken a comprehensive programme of Online Safety training, with pupils in every class receiving age-appropriate guidance and information. Online Safety workshops for parents have been organised and all pupils (and their parents/carers) sign the school’s Acceptable Use Policy prior to them receiving individual access codes to the school’s online learning portal.

Online Safety training is an ongoing part of the curriculum.

This section of the website provides further Online Safety information, useful website, checklists and links to the school’s Online Safety and Acceptable Use Policies. As a resource, this page will receive regular updates.
