Bumble Bees: Forest School Sessions

Our Reception children have once again been enjoying Forest School sessions each Wednesday morning with Mrs Holly… and of course Freddie Fox!
The changing seasons have brought so many changes to the Forest School area and the children have been comparing all the similarities and differences compared to the winter months. They were very quick to notice all the extra foliage and how dark it is underneath; “Wow it’s grown so much now, it’s so dark under here!” and “it’s just like being in a cave”!
So far, we have been bug-hunting and, to the children’s great delight, they found a rare stag beetle.
Also there has been lots of craft with mini bumble bees on strings, chalk drawings and also making our own flower presses.  Last week a group of children were completely absorbed in making a large nest following discussion about baby birds.  And also, back in class we are eagerly awaiting the next steps in the life cycle of our resident caterpillars. Thank you Mrs Holly! 🙂
