COP 26 & Climate Change Week – November 21

Climate Change Week
To tie in with COP26, we focused on climate change, sustainability and environmental issues during the first day back after half-term. Our teachers planned some wonderful activities to engage the children with this important issue. We have also had workshops and assemblies from Energy Sparks and Kilter Theatre to support children in developing their understanding of Climate Change and the part we play.

On Friday 5th November, we all joined together to make a Forest of Promises as part of the WWF Forest of Promises.

The children wrote an individual Promise to the Planet as well as a message to world leaders. We also made promises as a school explaining how we can do our part in looking after the planet.

Here are a few of the children’s Promises to the Planet:

‘We pledge to try and reduce our use of plastics and reuse paper whenever possible.’

‘We promise to look after our trees’.

Parents and Carers also wrote down their Promises to the Planet. Here are a few:

‘To start buying local, seasonal food.’

‘To walk more and drive less.’

‘To turn off lights when leaving every room.’

To only buy second hand clothes in 2022.’

‘If I’m not sure if I can recycle something, I’ll look it up instead of binning it.’
