Ladybirds: Classroom Caterpillars

In Nursery we have recently welcomed a cup of five caterpillars as we have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. The children have loved having the caterpillars in class and thoroughly enjoyed observing them over the last couple of weeks, and last week was magical as they all watched the caterpillars begin spinning their chrysalises!
Whilst reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar the children have also been putting their mark-making skills to the test and have been busy creating story maps of this familiar text and posters with their own diagrams of the life cycle of a butterfly. The children are hugely excited for the chrysalises to hatch into butterflies and can’t wait to see what colour they will be. We have an exciting few weeks ahead Ladybirds!
