Ladybirds: Measuring Animals

In Nursery we have been busy exploring mathematical concepts of length, height and size. The children have loved reading the book Ernest by Catherine Rayner, which is about a moose that is too big to fit in his book and needs a little help from his friend Squirrel! Ladybirds have also been getting creative and using large scale mark-making to compare length of different toy animals by drawing how long they are using pencils and rulers and then measuring the length of them using unifix cubes, and they have  even had a go at measuring each other and their Nursery grown-ups!
