Year 1: Little Gym Visit and Gingerbread Houses

Over these busy few weeks, year on1e have enjoyed a fantastic school trip to the little gym above the Odeon cinema complex. Wow, what a fun facility. They were expertly coached by three instructors and they had the opportunity to try out some advanced gymnastic equipment like the high bars, beam and vault. We were amazed by the children’s confidence and abilities. They had a brilliant time jumping, spinning, twisting, bending and turning whilst still learning to control their bodies and move and land safely. Thank you to the parents and carers who came along to help supervise a safe walk.

In RE we have continued to enjoy the bible stories about friendship. We try, when the weather has allowed, to take our learning outside and we have re-enacted the stories of Zaccheaus, Mary and Martha as well as how Jesus looked after his friends during storms.

In English we have been writing book reviews, and we all agreed we’d love to own a gingerbread house – like one in the story of Hansel and Gretel.  It has been wonderful to see the children’s ideas develop and hear them voice thoughts and opinions.
