Year 2: Outside Learning

At the end of last term, Year 2 were lucky enough to visit a synagogue in  Bristol and learn all about the synagogue and its role in Jewish life. The class tried on kippahs, and were able to help take the Torah from the Aron Kodesh and look at the scroll. The class also shared their learning about Passover with our wonderful volunteer leader, Iris. They also really enjoyed trying and sharing some of the delicious challah bread made by Iris before getting on the coach to return to school.
As well as this, the class were lucky enough to enjoy a morning of forest school activities at Kingswood School with Holly. They spotted snowdrops, smelt the wild garlic which was just starting to grow and spotted bulbs getting ready to burst into flower. The children really enjoyed the freedom to explore the space and worked in teams to build nests for birds in places they felt the birds would feel protected and warm. After this, the children had the opportunity to lead their own learning with some enjoying  craft activities in the canopied area while others built shelters or put on performances under the trees.
