Year 3: Creation & Reflection

In Art, the children have been inspired by illustrations of The Iron Man by Chris Mould, based on Ted Hughes’ classic novel. By cleverly placing a picture of themselves alongside the towering figure, they’ve brought this enigmatic character to life and achieved a powerful sense of scale.
In English, Year 3 have become expert explainers. Using fronted adverbials, technical vocabulary and structured paragraphs, the children have published and illustrated engaging reports to answer the question: How are fossils formed?
In RE,  the children have explored how worshipping deities in Sanatana Dharma engages all of our senses. They’ve  learned that incense reminds us that the deities are everywhere, a bell is rung to awaken the deity, Kumkum powder reflects respect, food offerings appeal to the sense of taste and the murti – an image of the  deity – engages the sense of sight. Inspired by this rich tradition, the children have created their own worship offerings.
We’re also thrilled to announce that St Andrew’s Buzz and Scuttle insect collages are now on display at Victoria Park Playground – for the whole summer! Here’s a reminder of Year 3’s vibrant contributions: each collage is a joyful celebration of imagination and individuality.
And finally, our Y3 Reflection Area. Created and cared for by the children, it’s a special place in our classroom where everyone can contribute, celebrate and reflect. This term, we’ve been thinking deeply about Joy and how we can all become agents of change at school, our community and our world.
