Year 3: Skulls and Bones

It’s been a hive of activity in Y3 this week – in and out of the classroom! In English we have been looking for clues and drawn inferences about the character of the skull (he’s amusing, resourceful and welcoming… but maybe, just maybe, he has a mysterious secret to reveal). We’ve planned and written a diary entry from the perspective of the skull – with plenty of conjunctions to join our ideas and sentences!
We also discovered it’s World Illustrators’ day today and some of us have been inspired to create our own front covers!
In science, we have been exploring the link between age and bone length. We carried out a scientific investigation and visited every class  measuring and recording the length of thigh bones.
In Design Technology we have started making our mechanical grabbers! Arthur and Hadley showed us the amazing models they made at home – great engineering to inspire us all!
In maths we’ve been exploring ‘complements to one hundred’ and our minds have been boggled by the patterns we keep on spotting and how important our Number Bonds are proving to be!
And of course we’ve been rehearsing our lines, dances and songs and drama for our Class Assembly. Look out for an incredible 3D paper mache skull made by Seth!
