Year 3: Volcanoes, Owls and Romans

It’s been a very busy and creative fortnight in Year 3.

On Monday, we created a wonderful ‘Calm Zone’ for our classroom. We all made little ‘colourful books of calm’ and then designed and decorated our own ’emotional tool kit’.

In English, we wrote pebble poems and created dramatic illustrations of an erupting volcano, inspired by our amazing new text The Pebble in my Pocket.

In science, we have investigated the properties of rocks – comparing and sorting by appearance, texture, hardness and how well each rock absorbs water.

Take a look at some of the wonderful clay owl sculptures and prints Y3 made at the end of last term. Can you spot the owl in this Temple entrance made by the Romans in Bath for the goddess Minerva Sulis? And finally – just a few of the stunning Fact Files Y3 created in response to our visit to the Roman Baths. We were all excited to discover that our school is built on a Roman road!
