Year 3: Why do we live in Bath?

Our question this term is: ‘Why do we live here in Bath?’ We began our reflection with an enormous map of the world. We’ve been plotting where we were born and sharing stories and events that brought each of us here to live in Bath. We’ve also been sharing different ways to say ‘Good morning’ at register time – so far we’ve spoken Albanian, German, Polish, French, Arabic, Spanish and Italian!
In History we’ve started our study of The Roman Empire – so many questions and thoughts including: “Who owned the seas between Britain and the rest of Europe?”; “What was Bath like before the Romans came?”; “How did they get to here?”; And “Why did the Roman build the baths in Bath?”
We can’t wait visit the Roman Baths and find out even more about the past and the events that makes Bath such a unique and world famous City.
In Maths this week we’ve been investigating divisibility. We used matchsticks to build 2D shapes, such as squares and triangles and this has helped us to spot patterns, explore ‘remainders’ and make connections with our times tables.
Y3 also wanted to share some crafty artwork they did at the end of last term – the challenge was to create winter-themed book marks and we’ve included a few of them below.
