Year 5: Earth, Space and Sports Day!

Earth and Space

In Science, we have been learning about our heliocentric solar system! Getting to know the distances from the sun to each planet, and creating funny mnemonics to help us remember their order!

We even modelled the solar system by holding each planet (an inflatable, of course) and ‘becoming’ the solar system ourselves, orbiting around the sun at different speeds. Did you know that the closer to the sun, the faster the orbit? The children have enjoyed using the iPads to research further information about each planet, and will use this to inform an information text.
