Year 2: Geography and Beebots
This term, Year 2 have jumped feet first into their learning with enthusiasm and inquisitive minds. The children have been developing their fieldwork skills in Geography and enjoyed a stroll around the local area where they were able to sketch a map of the area while thinking about the human and physical features that surround us at school.
This week, the class have had lots of fun using the school’s brand new Beebots. They experimented with creating sequences of instructions for the Beebots to follow and learnt key vocabulary such as algorithms. Importantly, everyone in the class, worked beautifully together taking turns and sharing these exciting new resources.
As well as this, the class have conducted their first Science investigation, posing the question ‘Why is exercise important?’. They have written predictions, discussed what makes a fair test and conducted an investigation by measuring their pulse before and after exercise.
As we look forward to the end of term, the class will be retelling the story of Orion and the Dark and designing a healthy lunchbox as well as continuing their learning on addition and subtraction in Maths and telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes in Maths.
What a fantastic start to the year!
