Bumble Bees: Life Cycles & Outside Play

This term in Bumble Bees we have been learning about life cycles. The children were excited to see some new additions in class – some tiny caterpillars which we are looking after. It has been exciting to see them grow and change into their chrysalis and we hope they will turn into butterflies when we are in school! We have also been looking after our runner beans outside and watching them grow.
We have read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, explored butterfly doubles and made caterpillar repeating patterns with finger painting.
At Forest School we experienced a downpour of rain and the children had fun splashing in the puddles and sheltering under the tarpaulin.
We also read the story of The Gingerbread Man and learnt how to make a story map to help us retell the story with actions.
In maths we have been learning about shapes and the children have made some lovely creative shape patterns, showing great imagination.
We have been keeping cool with lots of water play and exploration outside, and the Bumble Bees have been busy preparing for their first Sports Day. We can’t wait to join the rest of the school on the Royal Crescent for a morning of sport!
